Or, in the last century, a style known as "acrostic jewelry was popular. Acrostic jewelry in a sentence or the name is spelled out with the first letters of the names of the gems. For example, a ring with four stones - Jadeite, Uvarovite Garnet, Diamond and Iolite - would carry the secret message "Judi".

1.Allow yourself and your jeweler enough time to create an ornament that is really a special and lasting beauty. A custom jewel whose design has been rushed or compromised will often look awkward and incomplete. (Ed. note - If you are planning a special gem for the Christmas season, you must start the design process in early November.)
2.Cast a wide net when looking for design ideas. Possible sources of inspiration include antique and ancient jewelry, jewelry from other cultures and contemporary jewelry designs.Clip magazine ads and offers catalog of design ideas you can to your jewel.
3. Working with a designer who will help you enhance and interpret your ideas. The draft, a statement of your personal taste and life style.Be care of a "designer" who "knows exactly what you need or work from a catalog of stale commercial designs.
